Woyo masks
Woyo masks are ritual masks made by the Woyo people of western Africa. They are typically made out of wood, and painted with contrasting colors, often in dots. The colors used have symbolic meaning, and are sometimes renewed. They are worn in ceremonial dances known as the ndunga. They are decorated with sacred objects known as nkissi. The ndunga mask has several distinctive qualities such as a high forehead, triangular jaw, and contrasting or bright colors; usually in the form of small to medium dots. These masks are used by the leaders of the Woyo society; a group of strong and powerful men. ==External links==
